Toilet Repair in Escalon, Modesto & the 209 & 350

The toilet is the most used fixture in the house and the one most likely to waste water without anyone noticing. A worn flapper can pass hundreds of gallons a day silently, and it will show up on your bill long before you hear it.

We repair running, leaking, clogged, rocking and weak-flushing toilets for homes and businesses across Stanislaus and San Joaquin County, usually in a single visit. CA Lic. #953726, owner-operated since 2010.

Common Toilet Problems and What Causes Them

Most toilet trouble comes down to six parts, and all six are repairable.

  • Constant running: a worn flapper or a misadjusted fill valve letting water pass continuously into the bowl.
  • Phantom flushing: the tank refilling on its own, which means water is leaking past the flapper seat.
  • Water pooling at the base: a failed wax ring or a corroded flange. This water reaches your subfloor.
  • A rocking or loose toilet: loose bolts or a damaged flange, and every rock breaks the wax seal further.
  • Weak or incomplete flush: clogged rim jets, mineral buildup in the trapway, or a chain adjusted wrong.
  • Repeat clogs: often a partially blocked branch line rather than the toilet itself.

Repair or Replace: How We Decide

Under roughly ten years old, with a sound tank and bowl, repair almost always wins. Flappers, fill valves, flush valves, supply lines, angle stops and wax rings are inexpensive parts and a straightforward job.

A cracked tank or bowl gets replaced, full stop; a hairline crack becomes a flood eventually. We also recommend replacement when a very old low-efficiency unit clogs constantly, because a modern fixture uses far less water per flush and actually clears the bowl.

Hard Water and Why Valley Toilets Struggle

Mineral-heavy Central Valley water leaves scale everywhere water sits or passes. In a toilet that means deposits in the rim jets and siphon jet, which is the single most common reason for a flush that seems to have lost its power over the years.

The same minerals stiffen flapper rubber and coat the flapper seat, which is why a toilet that never used to run suddenly does. Both are repairs, not replacements, when they are caught in time.

Water Conservation and California Standards

California limits new toilets to 1.28 gallons per flush, and modern high-efficiency fixtures clear the bowl at that volume better than the 3.5 and 5 gallon units they replaced. If you still have an original 1980s toilet, a replacement pays back in water use rather than just in appearance.

Either way, fixing a running toilet is the highest-return small plumbing repair in any house. Call 209.838.1000. Serving Escalon, Modesto, Turlock, Riverbank, Oakdale, Ripon, Manteca, Lathrop and Salida.

Questions We Get

Toilet Repair FAQ

Repair or replace?

Under about ten years old, repair almost always wins. Cracked tanks or bowls get replaced.

Why is water pooling at the base?

Usually a failed wax ring or a corroded flange. Don't wait on it, that water is reaching the subfloor.

Why does my toilet keep running?

Almost always a worn flapper or a fill valve out of adjustment. Both are quick, inexpensive repairs, and both waste a startling amount of water until they are done.

Can a running toilet raise my water bill?

Considerably. A silently leaking flapper can pass hundreds of gallons a day, and it is one of the most common causes of an unexplained bill jump.

Why is my flush weak?

Usually mineral buildup in the rim and siphon jets from hard water, or a flush chain adjusted too long. We clear the jets and reset the mechanism.

Is it normal for a toilet to rock slightly?

No. Movement means loose bolts or a damaged flange, and every rock works the wax seal loose. It should be corrected before it leaks.

How can I prevent toilet clogs?

Flush only waste and toilet paper. Wipes labeled flushable, paper towels and hygiene products are the cause of most of the clogs we clear.

Can you repair commercial toilets?

Yes, including flush valve and pressure-assist units in restaurants, offices and multi-unit properties.
